Hello and welcome. As a therapist I bring years of experience working with diverse communities and I also know what it’s like to begin again in a new culture. It can be very disorienting as you are learning different nuances of language, social norms and work practices. Whatever your situation, my goal in counselling is to offer a space where you don’t have to face things alone. I provide a calm, compassionate presence as we explore what feels heavy and build upon your strengths.
If you are navigating a huge life transition such as moving to a new place, here are some common issues that can come up:
I know it can feel isolating and overwhelming trying to meet everyone’s expectations while quietly wondering what you truly want. Over time, this can leave you feeling disconnected and doubting your worth. Carrying it all alone can be exhausting. These are areas where I feel I have a lot of experience in guiding clients towards positive outcomes:
I am one of those seemingly rare individuals who actually enjoys public speaking. I have also co-authored a handbook on caregiving. As well, I have been a volunteer with the Burnaby Hospice Society in Bereavement and Palliative Care. I have also provided emotional support to individuals at end of life and to those grieving the loss of a loved one.
